Dr. Paloma Almeda Valdés completed her undergraduate studies at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey Campus Monterrey, the specialty of Internal Medicine at the Fundación Clínica Médica Sur, the subspecialty in Endocrinology at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán and the highly specialized course in Diabetes and Metabolism at this same Institution. He has a Master’s and Doctorate in Medical Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and later did a post-doctoral stay at the University of Washington in Saint Louis Missouri, USA.
He is a specialist doctor attached to the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition and belongs to the National System of Researchers (level II).
His line of research is on insulin resistance and beta cell function.

Trainer of health professionals in Latin America and in particular in Colombia. At the Javeriana University, he is the founder of the training program in the specialty of Endocrinology and in the Colombian Diabetes Association he has organized continuing education courses in Diabetes for Primary Care Physicians and for the training of Diabetes Educators since the Declaration of the Americas (DOTA). He has also collaborated in the development of the ALAD Clinical Practice Guidelines for Type 2 Diabetes since 2000. These activities have benefited health professionals throughout the Latin American region.
Associate Professor at the Javeriana University, he is also an Emeritus Professor at the Nueva Granada University School of Medicine, which has a category equivalent to Titular.
Multiple Publications of article in magazines and author of books on endocrinology with honorary and editorial positions in Colombia and internationally.
